Working in Electrical Technology gives you many options when it comes to the direction of the career niche that you decide to go towards. You may think that the only thing that you would be able to do would be to work as an essential electrician, but that is not the case.

You can take many paths once you have the knowledge to do so. Let’s examine some of the options available after you finish classes.

Careers In the Electrical Technology Field

Table of Contents

  • Cardiovascular Technician
  • Electrical Assembler
  • Biomedical Equipment Technician
  • Electrician
  • Electrical Technician
  • Lineman/Linewomen
  • Electrica Foreman
  • Construction Manager

Cardiovascular Technician

This is one path you may not have even considered, but it is a great way to get into the medical field without going to medical school. The job you would be doing in this field would be to operate the medical devices that monitor the patient’s heart and perform electrocardiograms during routine exams and surgery.

Electrical Assembler

This career path could lead you into several industries, including medical, industrial, and construction. The main task you would be doing in this path would be placing components into machines and ensuring that those machines are working correctly.

Many kinds of devices are operating throughout every industry in the world. As the world moves into the future, more jobs will open up for you.

Biomedical Equipment Technician

This career choice can lead to some very lucrative job positions. You would be responsible for installing biomedical equipment in hospitals, biomedical labs, etc. You would also have to calibrate, diagnose, and repair all the equipment involved in the industry.

Electrician

This is the most common path people take after the Electrical Technology program. Going into this career, you would install and repair electrical systems throughout commercial and residential locations. The most common choice is to work with contractors building homes and apartments because steady work pays good money.

Electrical Technician

A technician is another niche you would be able to enter if you went through classes. You would be working closely with an Electrical Engineer to help create, test, and maintain electrical systems being designed for various tasks in almost every industry.

Lineman/Linewomen

This is also a common choice when going into the electrical field. You would be installing main powerlines and repairing damage when storms roll through. This position pays good money, but you need to be able to withstand some of the harshest weather. The people rely on you to keep their power and get it back on as quickly as possible when it goes out.

Electrica Foreman

The foreman is the boss. You would be in charge of the linemen/linewomen installing or repairing the main power lines throughout the country. You could do all the work that the linemen do, but you have been promoted to the next level, so you only do the job when they need help.

Construction Manager

This field would give you a little variety and a sizeable paycheck. You would be in charge of all the construction for a given project, including the electrical aspects. This is why you would need to go through the Electrical Technology course because you need to understand how the wiring works. Otherwise, overseeing the electrical side of the project may be difficult.

This list could go on and on, but you should have the point by now. Anything related to electricity is an open avenue for you to choose if you go through all the Electrical Technology classes.

If you are not in the field already, it gives you a chance to enter it. With the right experience and the knowledge to back you up, you can rise to the top of whatever industry you have chosen to pursue.
